Can it run ProPresenter?

UPDATED June 7, 2022:

I keep getting questions over in the ProPresenter Users' Group about what computers can run ProPresenter.  This post, which I'll try to keep updated is to answer that question:

Macs:

M2 Macs?

Once released, the M2 Air and MBP should run Pro7 just as well as the M1 versions (and probably better).  They are still limited to two displays total (including the built in one), so you have to use BMD hardware (or other means) to connect more than that.

M1 Macs?

Yes, but as of January 2021, all of them are limited to two displays: the built in one and one other (in the case of the Air and Pro) or an HDMI and thunderbolt 3 display.  They CAN'T use eGPUs as of today, but they CAN use decklink cards, like the Decklink Duo2 with a thunderbolt 3 enclosure because they're not technically eGPUs.

As of this writing, NDI is only working in Rosetta.  With Pro7.5, NDI is native to Apple Silicon Macs.

On April 20, 2021, Apple announced M1 iMacs.  They should run Pro7.4 and later when they ship.

M1 Pro, Max, and Ultra?

Yes!!  In fact, depending on what you're doing, some of them might be over-kill.  That said, I've NEVER regretted over buying.  I HAVE regretted buying enough because enough, too quickly became ALMOST enough.

The advantage of the M1 Pro, Max, and Ultra chips is that they can support 3, 5, and 5 displays (respectively).  The M1 Pro is only available in MacBook Pro format, so one of those is the built-in screen, so if you want to have a control screen, audience screen, and stage screen without using external hardware (like that from BlackMagic), that's the minimum current Mac that will do it.

The Mac Studio would be a great machine for Pro7, if you do more than the basics.

Intel Macs?

Yes, but dedicated graphics cards are strongly recommended for when you have more than the three regular displays.  Newer ones with more RAM and SSDs will work better than older ones.  i7 & i9 Macs work better than i5s (all things being equal).

PCs:

Dedicated graphics cards, SSDs, i7 or equivalent.  Windows Pro is a better choice than Windows Home.

Operating systems:

MacOS: 10.14.6 or newer (Mojave 10.14.6, Catalina, 10.15, Big Sur 11 with Pro7.4 or greater)
Windows 10 x64: Version 1809 (build 17763) or newer

Anyone have specific Windows configurations that seem to work really well?  If so, tell us all in the comments below.
